The THIRD READING of a proposal that would REPEAL the breed-specific language of the Sherwood, Arkansas animal control ordinance is on the city council’s agenda for TONIGHT, Monday, August 26.
The Sherwood council has been discussing a total revamp of their animal control ordinance for the last several months.
One of the proposed changes is the REMOVAL of any reference to “pit bulls” automatically deemed as “vicious dogs.” Instead, dogs would be deemed vicious based on their actions and behavior.
At the close of last month’s meeting, city officials were on the fence with respect to a few aspects of the new ordinance, including the number of animals per household AND the “pit bull” clause.
The council has released the agenda for tonight, and the draft ordinance DOES NOT single out any breed of dog.
If you’re in the Sherwood area, PLEASE ATTEND the meeting as a show of support for the proposed BREED-NEUTRAL ordinance the council will be voting on.
Let the council know they are making the right decision for the safety and welfare of all who reside in their community.
All paws are crossed that by the end of the day, BSL in Sherwood, Arkansas will be nothing but a memory!
