Oppose – Colorado HB1102

February 19, 2021

Dear Members and Supporters,

At a time when the citizens of Colorado are facing an increase in homeless people across the state and both urban and rural businesses have been devastated by Coronavirus shut downs, Colorado HB1102 is a perfect example of irresponsible legislation seeking to shut down legal, licensed pet stores and the sale of animals sourced from legal, licensed, and regulated breeders.

Colorado HB1102 is a mandate that all retail pet stores in Colorado source their animals from rescues and shelters only. Entities that are unregulated and exempt from oversight and current laws!

HB1102 poses a very serious threat to the public health and safety of Colorado citizens by MANDATING the sale of animals from unregulated sources, while banning legal, licensed sources of pets to sell in retail pet stores.
