2009 ADBA Scholarship Winner Zabrina Dennis

2009 ADBA Scholarship Winner

The American Dog Breeders Association Inc. “Leaders of The Future” Scholarship for 2009 has been awarded to Zabrina Renee Dennis, from St. Stephen, South Carolina. Zabrina is currently a student at Williamsburg Technical College where she is pursuing a degree in business. She is planning to put her degree to use as her plans for the future include running a successful fencing and landscaping business along with a kennel of Champion American Pit Bull Terriers.

Despite being a full time student, Zabrina finds time to volunteer as secretary on the Board of Directors for the New Hope Pit Bull Rescue. Since January 2008, she has served as the vice-president of the Carolina APBT Owners Association. Zabrina has also served her college as the secretary of the Student Government Association since January 2008 until the present time.

Zabrina’s advisor, Alecia N. Lawrence comments, “Ms. Dennis is very bright and a hardworking student. She has demonstrated group leadership with assigned projects and activities submitted. She is definitely a person that is willing to take on new challenges. She is a writer for the student newspaper, “Let’s Get Technical”. One of the articles that she wrote and was published in the paper provided an informative insight into a certain breed of terrier (the APBT) that Ms. Dennis explained was misunderstood because of its appearance. I could sense her love of the breed through the presentation of this particular piece.”

Zabrina states in her application, “I have enjoyed knowing the APBT, on a personal level with the four dogs that I own. I greatly enjoy showing at ADBSI events. There is a relaxed and ‘family’ type atmosphere at the shows. I appreciate the ADBA’s registration guidelines and will continue registering with them because of the integrity of the Association. I will continue my efforts to educate the public and present the breed in a positive light as long as I walk this earth.”

Congratulations, Zabrina Renee Dennis as the 2009 recipient of the ADBA’s “Leaders of The Future” Scholarship
