ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND SANCTIONED EVENT SHOWGROUND RULES
- All dogs must be ADBA registered to enter any ADBA sanctioned event. (Dogs ADBA registration paper(s) or Show & Pull ID card must be presented when registering for an event)
- Conformation, no spayed or neutered dogs.
Weight pull and Top Dog Athletic event, only ADBA registered dogs and LPP dogs, both intact and or spayed/neutered, are allowed to enter - Conformation Age Requirement: Dog must be no less than four months of age (to the date of its birth) to be entered. (This is to protect the temperament & health of the young dogs
- Weight Pull Age Requirement: Dog must be no less than nine months of age (to the date of its birth) to be entered.
- No puppies or dogs allowed on the premises – for sale or otherwise – unless entered in one of the day’s sanctioned events.
- All children on premises must have adult supervision at all times.
- All dogs will be secured in dog crates and attended to at all times.
- All dog crates must be in good condition.
- Dogs will be held in the designated holding area until called for participation.
- While participating in the event(s), leads are to be no longer than 4 feet and attached to a secure “belt buckle” collar.
- No “flex” leads, “quick release” snaps, or “choke chains” allowed.
- There will be no “facing-off” of dogs, “challenges” or un-sportsman-like conduct allowed.
- No bitches in heat allowed.
- Inappropriate and/or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Any dog showing aggression to humans, or human showing aggression to dogs, will be barred from participation. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
- *UPDATE: The American Dog Breeders Assoc. has a ZERO TOLERANCE BITE POLICY at any event held by ADBA sanctioned clubs. This policy covers ANY attempted bite/bite that occurs at our events, whether it is from human aggression, fear, excitement, redirection, etc. That being said, we also realize that the Top Dog event is very different from a conformation or weight pulling event, as the Top Dog events bring out the prey drive in a dog. However, even under demanding circumstances, the dog needs to be totally trustworthy and temperamentally sound.
*If an incident occurs – whether it happens in conformation, wt. pull, or Top Dog – the dog must immediately stop competing in the event it is currently in and is suspended from participating in the rest of the day/weekend competition. The dog is to be put away and removed, if possible, from the grounds. No points will be earned (if the incident occurred prior to completion of the event/class); no refunds will be given. The dog in question will remain on suspension and may not participate in any ADBA event until the ADBA board members have reviewed the incident report and witness statements. The owner/handler of the dog will acknowledge that an incident occurred by completing their own statement. (See ADBA Incident Report Form for complete information.) The incident report and any owner/witness statement(s) must be sent to heather@adba.cc upon completion of the show as well as hard copies sent with the judges’ books within 10 working days of the show. The ADBA may contact the club/witnesses if further information is required. Upon review, the ADBA will contact the owner of the dog (as listed in the ADBA files) directly to notify them of their decision: if the dog will be allowed to continue competing in ADBA events or if the dog will be banned from participation.
Club Designated Security Officers Are Present to Ensure That All ADBA Hosting Club and Show Site Rules Are Enforced. Anyone Not Abiding by These Rules Will Be Asked to Leave. No Refunds Will Be Given.
